  1. Big pet peeve of mine is when I hear teachers say that a particular student just will never get phonics and thus they will be a sight reader.

  3. My biggest pet peeve is when over twenty percent of the class qualifies for intervention and/or special education when there is a clear breakdown at the tier 1 level. All we are doing is passing the buck when tier 1 curriculum and instructional practices do not align with the science of reading and learning. This is unfair to students and uses an absorbent amount of resources that could be better spent elsewhere. Teachers deserve professional learning and resources to meet their students in tier 1.
