The company’s products won two esteemed awards and were a finalist for three others during the 2021–2022 school year.

(SALT LAKE CITY) June 29, 2022 Reading Horizons has won or been chosen as a finalist for many esteemed awards during the 20212022 school year. Reading Horizons Discovery®, a tech-enabled foundational reading program won two awards: the Tech & Learning Awards of Excellence Best of 2021 and Back to School for primary education.

Reading Horizons Discovery® has also been honored as a finalist for three awards:

“What an honor it is to have our science-based reading program recognized by the education community as a successful solution for students,” said Stacy Hurst, Chief Academic Officer of Reading Horizons. “We truly believe every child deserves an equal opportunity at success in life. That begins with attaining reading proficiency by the end of third grade!”

The Mission

While 95 percent of third graders nationwide are cognitively capable of reading proficiently, data shows that 64 percent are not reading proficiently by the end of third grade. Three out of four of these learners will never catch up. Reading Horizons has made it their mission to fill the need for quality, science-based programs to help students achieve reading proficiency in the K–3 years.

“The mission of Reading Horizons is to equip teachers to use a Structured Literacy approach. This program boosts reading proficiency and captivates students,” said Tyson Smith, the CEO of Reading Horizons. “We would like to thank our community of teachers, administrators, and district leaders who have implemented our program. They’ve shown that our instructional materials, software, and professional learning are effective in helping students achieve reading mastery.”
