This collaboration set the stage for the development of Reading Horizons’ acclaimed software, initially targeted towards adult literacy, which launched in the late 1980s.
In 1994, Reading Horizons achieved a milestone with its first statewide sale to the California prison system, demonstrating the efficacy of its literacy solutions in diverse learning environments. The acquisition of the copyright from Charlotte Lockhart in 2000 further solidified the company’s commitment to advancing literacy education.
Embracing the digital era, Reading Horizons transitioned to online delivery in 2007, enhancing accessibility and flexibility for learners and educators alike. In 2010, the company introduced Reading Horizons Elevate®, a redeveloped product tailored for older students, followed by the launch of Reading Horizons Discovery® in 2012, replacing its predecessor from 1998.
